On May 26th and 27th the Chicago Metro Chapter will be hosting the annual Expo and Roadeo in Schaumburg, IL at the Renaissance hotel and conference center. This event is the largest event of the year for the chapter. This event draws thousands of attendees, hundreds of vendors and dozens and dozens of competitors in the snow plow and loader roadeo. The event takes a lot of planning and organizing and the Chapter is fortunate to have a dedicated group of volunteers heading up this event. Robert Lewis is the general chairman. Glen Andler and Scott Shirley will be corralling the roadeo participants. Assisting with all the other numerous activities and educational sessions are Barb Little, Bill Heinz, Ed Kalina, Michelle Lipinski and Sagar Sonar. APWA joins ASCE in Issuing Infrastructure Report CardOn February 10, 2010 several members of the Chicago Metro Chapter of APWA joined their colleagues from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) in Springfield, IL to host the unveiling of the ASCE report card on the status of infrastructure in Illinois. The report card gave an overall grade of D to the infrastructure. This grade incorporates nine various components including aviation, bridges, water resources, roads and transit systems. Criteria included a general condition of the facilities and the funding proposed to address system deficiencies.In addition to the issuance of the report card, participants visited with their state representatives and state senators. Our very own Dave Lawry is the Region V Director.   In this role, he attends the House of Delegates and keeps the Chapter up to date on issues with National.  He issues a monthly Region V Newsletter.  Check back here periodically to read the latest version and back issues. 
APWA offers members a fun and creative way to be involved in the planning for our upcoming national conference to be held in Chicago in 2013. Starved Rock Lodge - Utica, IL November 6, 2009. At their annual leadership retreat, the Chicago Metro Chapter of the American Public Works Association announced their slate of candidates for the 2010 calendar year.Victor Ramirez of the City of Crystal Lake, IL and Immediate Past President released the names of the nominating committee’s recommendations for the 2010 officer candidates. Ramirez had issued a call for nominations and convened a committee to interview interested candidates.
