President's Message
Welcome!  To the Chicago Metro Chapter Website, and gathering place for our amazing five branches and chapter.  Chicago Metro chapter is one heck of an active group of people.  If you check out our site, you will learn that you could literally attend an event every week throughout the year.  How do we that, you ask?  With 6 golf outings, more than 30 educational opportunities, over 25 monthly meetings among all of our branches, 6 scholarship lunches, 6 awards lunches, 5 holiday lunches, an amazing snow plow roadeo competition, and much, much more!

As a chapter, we work hard with our five branches to bring networking and educational opportunities to our 1400 active members, always focused on education and scholarship.  In fact, we bring over $50,000 (!!!) in scholarships to our local community each and every year.  What an awesome accomplishment!

We boast a vibrant membership committee, and now they have added a Young Professionals group this year.  What a great way to ensure that we remain diverse and open to all possible members in the Chicago Metro area.

We have collaborated with the Illinois Chapter to form the Illinois Public Service Institute - a three year program focused on developing leadership skills in up and coming public works professional.  This program continues to grow, and in now our tenth year, many of these graduates form our leadership core for both the chapter and branches.

And I would be remiss not to mention the national conference.  Since its last appearance here in Chicago in 1994, Chicago Metro Chapter has been trying hard to bring the show back to Chicago.  And we have finally done it!  So mark your calendars for August 23 to 28 and plan to join us. Whether it be volunteering to help proctor an education session or staff a welcome booth, or just joining us for the Chapter Party or the Get Acquainted Party, plan to join us for the best APWA Congress yet.

I am honored to serve as President of this great chapter in 2013.  The members of this chapter and branches are some of the finest professionals in our industry.   If you haven't joined us for something lately - a meeting - a class - or a golf outing - consider joining us for something soon.  I guarantee you will not regret it, and you will come back for more!
