The Village of Itasca, Illinois seeks a motivated team player to be the next the full-time Utilities Division Operator. This position provides a variety of skilled and semi-skilled labor to the operations of the water distribution system, wastewater collection system and storm water collection system.

Qualified individuals must:

• Operate a variety of machinery to maintain, repair and install village-owned utilities. Typical machinery includes combination loader/backhoe, excavators, articulating loaders, skidsteers, Class “B” CDL dump trucks, vacuum/flusher vehicles, manual transmission trucks or tractors, 90 lbs. breaker-hammers.

• Work in confined space, following all safety standards.

• Adhere to all safety standards.

• Respond to emergencies occurring past the 40- hour work week such as water main breaks, sanitary sewer back-ups, storm water flooding, J.U.L.I.E. locates, snow plowing.

• Respond to work orders concerning low water pressure, high water bills and faulty meters. Determine the cause, the extent of the Village’s responsibility and performs repairs. Respond to customers in cordial, clear manner.

• Operate a flusher/vacuum truck to remove roots and other debris from the sanitary or storm collection systems. Replace and/or repair broken collection system lines.

• Install or replace sidewalk and curb; restore parkways and public property.

• Respond to weather events that may result in extended periods of hours worked. • Complete tasks at special events: site setup, site cleaning and site breakdown.

Candidates Must:

o Be at least 18 years of age o Possess High School Diploma or GED o Possess and maintain Illinois drivers’ license.

o Possess Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with airbrake and tanker endorsements or have ability to obtain within nine months.

o Possess or obtain IEPA Class “C” Water Operator license within one year. o Possess practical experience repairing / maintaining water distribution lines and/or related field.

Preference given to applicants with:

Class C IEPA Water Operator License.

o Class B CDL with air brake and tanker endorsements.

Hiring wage: $28.11/hour with a nine-year step program under local 150 union contract. Excellent benefit package: insurance, paid time off, and IMRF defined benefit pension.
