The City of Geneva, Illinois is accepting applications for an Engineering Intern position. The position is an hourly, temporary position reporting to the City Engineer/Assistant Director of Public Works. The position provides engineering and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) support duties to various departments while gaining experience in local government and public works. The major emphasis will be with assisting the City engineers with construction observation and field measurements for the road program and other various construction projects. As time allows, this position may also be involved with the GIS Department to enter data into the City’s GIS, collecting GPS data in the field as weather conditions allow, preparing maps/exhibits from the GIS, and updating the City’s utility atlas maps using ArcGIS/CAD software.
The position requires enrollment in an engineering/GIS bachelor degree program, or a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in engineering or a related field, or any combination of education, computer training and GIS/GPS experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
