The Village of Homewood is seeking a candidate for a temporary engineering internship position in the Public Works Department/Engineering Division.
Job Description/General Duties:Intern position performs moderately technical engineering duties.Work is performed under the direction of the Public Works Project Coordinator and/or Village Engineer, as assigned.Work may involve pavement and sidewalk condition evaluations; inspections of methods of and materials used in the construction of roadways, curbs, gutters, and other public improvements; reviews and interprets construction plans and specifications; assistance with surveying for Village projects; measuring of all quantities used in construction projects and other statistical data collection; assistance with internal traffic studies; office related functions including data entry, filing and scanning; interaction with the public, contractors and Village employees.
Qualifications (Education & Experience):Must be at least 18 years of age.High school diploma or GED.Must be a student studying civil or environmental engineering.Must have a valid Illinois Drivers License.Have effective written and oral communication skills.
Salary:$10.50 per hour
Hours:Monday–Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm (limited O.T. work may be required)
Employment Duration:May 2018 – September 2018 (approximate)
