The Chicago Metro Chapter of the American Public Works Association provides scholarships to individuals perusing advanced education in the engineering and management fields. Any open scholarship applications are listed below:

Annual Scholarship Program

The APWA Chicago Metro Scholarship Program is looking to award numerous scholarships in two categories: 1) training, skill enhancement, certification, and continuing education for public works agency employees, and 2) coursework for a full-time or part-time student in an associate, bachelors, or graduate degree program related to or enhancing a career of the public works field.

Did you know that educating employees helps a) increase retention, b) build confidence and energy, c) innovate and improve efficiency, and d) build succession?  Education benefits everyone and furthermore, APWA develops and supports those people that plan, build, maintain, and improve our communities.  The annual Scholarship Program is proudly provided by the Chicago Metro Chapter of APWA.

Branch Scholarship Programs

City

APWA has established a Mission to promote professional excellence; understanding of and competency and credibility in public works.  To fulfill our Mission, the City Branch of the Chicago Metropolitan Chapter of the American Public Works Association is sponsoring the Dr. Emil Nigro, P.E., Memorial Scholarship for:

  • Candidates pursuing a degree in a Public Works related field of study
  • Employees of Public Works agencies that are pursuing continuing education (non-degree programs)

All application materials must be e-mailed on or before April 9, 2019.

Fox Valley

In line with our exempt purpose, the APWA has established a Mission to promote professional excellence; understanding of and competency and credibility in public works.  This Mission is further served by delivering technical workshops, seminars, educational conferences, trade shows and credentialing combined with the offering of educational scholarships to further support students working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree in a public works-related field.

To fulfill our Mission, the Chicago Metro Chapter – Fox Valley Branch (Branch) of the American Public Works Association is sponsoring a scholarship program for Candidates Pursuing a Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Public Works Related Field.  Applications must be submitted via email or postmarked on or before March 29, 2019.

Southwest

APWA has established a Mission to promote professional excellence; understanding of and competency and credibility in public works.  To fulfill our Mission, the Southwest Branch of the Chicago Metropolitan Chapter of the American Public Works Association is sponsoring scholarship programs for:

  • Students pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Public Works Management
  • Employees in the public works field pursuing continuing education classes or degrees to further their knowledge of public work

All application materials must be postmarked or e-mailed on or before March 29, 2019.  Notification of awards will be by April 17, 2019.

2019 SW Branch Continuing Education Scholarship

Suburban

The Suburban Branch of APWA Chicago Metro Chapter is once again offering Professional Development and Full-Time Student scholarships. Professional Development scholarships will be awarded to individuals who work in the public works field and are employed by APWA Suburban Branch member organizations. Professional Development scholarships help individuals who are improving their public works knowledge, by providing financial assistance which may or may not be covered by their employer. Full-Time Student scholarships will go to individuals who plan to study a public works-related field and either live within the Suburban Branch geographic boundaries or are employed by an APWA Suburban Branch member organization.

All application materials must be postmarked or e-mailed on or before April 19, 2019, and submitted to the Branch Scholarship Chair. Notification of awards will be by May 11, 2019, and an award presentation will be made at our Awards Luncheon on Thursday, June 20, 2019.
