ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the engineering staff with engineering plan reviews and inspections, measuring quantities, drainage investigations, preparing reports and calculations and performing research.
Assist with projects that involve working on roadway paving, water mains, sanitary sewers, storm water, sidewalks, and street light improvements for public and private construction.
Conduct general office work, such as scanning and filing.
Adhere to all Village policies and procedures within the department and as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Maintains regular attendance and punctuality, and possess a solid work ethic.
Follow all safety regulations, policies and procedures. Report all unsafe conditions and acts to supervisor. Report all accidents to the supervisor immediately whenever possible, but no later than end of the work shift. Follow recognized safe work practices.
Perform other duties as requested or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

-Skill with Microsoft Excel and Word
-Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills
-Experience with Auto CAD and Microsoft Access is preferred
-Ability to develop reports and analyze data through computer applications
-Ability to make complex engineering computations, and to prepare and interpret engineering plans and specifications
-Working knowledge of basic civil engineering principles, including trigonometry and higher mathematics used in engineering practices
EDUCATION &/OR EXPERIENCE
A High School diploma or general education degree (GED), and preferably be enrolled in an accredited college or university, majoring in Civil or Environmental engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess and maintain in good standing, a valid Illinois driver's license.
