RJN Group, Inc., a national engineering firm specializing in infrastructure assessment and rehabilitation is seeking a Resident Project Representative for the southwestern suburban area to perform construction management and observation duties as well as office and field activities associated with sewer system evaluations and rehabilitation.
Conduct and document field observations of construction and maintenance of sewer collection facilities and water distribution systems.
Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and related codes/standards.
Ensure installed work conforms to design documents, approved submittals, regional standards, local codes and construction practices.Identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.Communicate deficiencies to the proper people.
Discuss plans, specifications and work schedules with project manager, engineers, contractors, utility companies and other governmental agencies.
Perform all functions of the position in a safe and conscientious manner, with constant regard for the safety of fellow employees and the general public.Follows company environmental, health and safety policies. Adheres to protective equipment attire.
Compiles information, prepares construction reports and reviews as-built drawings as required.Obtain, prepare and maintain reports, permits, maps, charts and/or records related to the construction.
Participate in studies to determine sufficiency of existing sanitary, storm water and other municipal systems through associated field tasks, confined space entry, GIS and CAD design activities.
Monitor and report to management on the progress of all project activity, including significant milestones and any conditions which would affect project cost or schedule.
Serve as a quality assurance engineer reviewing plans, testing or construction for municipal projects.
Follow all company, client, safety and regulatory requirements as related to this position and the work duties being performed.
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a minimum of 5-years Construction Management experience
Valid driver’s license and good driving record
Ability to work overtime as needed
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite Products, and Outlook
Experience reading and reviewing construction plans and specifications
Excellent communication skills; ability to convey information effectively; understand ideas and information presented in writing and verbally
Ability to communicate and coordinate with construction contractors, municipal and private property owners in a cooperative, productive manner while serving the best interest of our client.
Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of task
While performing duties of job, employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and tolerate working in hot or cold weather conditions.Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
If working in field, must wear steel-toe boots, Class 2 or Class 3 safety vest, high visibility T-shirt, leather gloves, safety glasses, hard hat and other standard equipment required by assignment or job task.
