Lake County Responding to Hunger

Description :

The Lake Branch of the American Public Works Association Chicago Metro Chapter is excited to announce that we have partnered with the Northern Illinois Food Bank, Lake County Fair Association and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office for a county-wide food drive. The food drive will be held on Tuesday, July 24th, 2018 at the Lake County Fairgrounds.

This event is titled Responding to Hunger in part to promote the role of those in Public Works as First Responders during Emergency Management situations where those in Public Works are often not mentioned alongside Police and Fire Departments. We aim to help change that perception while helping people in need.

We aim to make this a big public event with fun activities for the entire family. Part of the day’s events will include a Touch-A-Truck to let children get an up-close look and climb aboard super-sized vehicles! In addition to our primary goal of providing food to those in need, this event will provide visibility within the community that Public Works and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office stand together in Responding to Hunger.

Our APWA Lake Branch Outreach Chairman, Nick Keller III, is leading this exciting event and can be contacted with questions as well as participation details.
